Vehicle driving on a snow-covered road during the winter season

Volkswagen Winter Preparation Maintenance West Islip, NY

We have been carefully watching the weather forecast lately and so far, there has been no sign of snow. That doesn't mean that we shouldn't be prepared, though. When winter comes to Long Island, it comes fast and hard – and we still have to go to work (even though many of us would rather stay in our apartments snuggled up in a blanket with a good book and a mug of hot apple cider). Luckily, Volkswagen vehicles were designed to handle the cold and snow, but it never hurts to give your model some TLC before winter starts so that you can enjoy ongoing dependability all season long.

Here at Atlantic Volkswagen, we do more than just provide an extensive selection of brand-new and pre-owned Volkswagen vehicles. We also house a state-of-the-art service center that is able to help you keep your Volkswagen in excellent condition.

With the cold temperatures  along with the snow and ice on the road  it is very important that your Volkswagen is in prime condition. You wouldn't participate in the Iditarod without being prepared and properly dressed, would you? The same thing applies to your Volkswagen. There are several tasks that we recommend taking care of before the winter season starts, including:

  • Getting a fresh oil change

  • Having the brakes inspected and repaired/replaced as need

  • Checking the tires and switching them out for a winter/all-season set if needed

  • Making sure that the cabin's heating unit is working properly (no one likes to drive in a cold vehicle)

  • Switching fluids

  • Having the battery tested and changed if necessary (remember that extreme cold can be particularly hard on a vehicle's battery)

  • Switching out the windshield wiper blades for optimal visibility

If you need some winter preparation maintenance performed on your Volkswagen, it's not too late! Please contact us here at Atlantic Volkswagen and schedule a service appointment!
